There are four different types of diamonds in Patterson Park which are used for adult and little league softball and baseball. All of the fields are in good condition with the softball diamonds heavily programmed on week nights from May through September by city slow-pitch and fast-ball leagues.
Three 60-foot multi-purpose ball diamonds are assigned to local little leagues for kids 6-12 years on weeknights and Saturdays. There are also three 90-foot fields for adult and little league games.
Baseball diamonds are scheduled for play week nights and Saturdays with several city-run and private leagues. To schedule a game or register a team, contact Bob Wall, Department of Recreation and Parks at 410-396-9392.
The five Patterson Park basketball courts are in three different dimensions, one being a half-court size. The courts are well used and are available on a first-come-first-serve basis. There are also indoor basketball leagues that play inside the Virginia Baker Recreation Center. Contact Dot Mann, Director, at 410-396-9156 for more information.
There is one field available for football. The Utz Twardowicz Stadium is used for tournaments. Youth football for ages 9 - 13 is organized into four leagues. Games for these leagues are scheduled at several facilities throughout the city including Patterson Park from September through November. Five fields are available for soccer. The Utz Twardowicz Stadium is used for tournaments. Baltimore City has soccer leagues for five different age groups under the age of 16 and sponsors the Baltimore Metro Invitational Soccer Tournament in Patterson Park in October and November.
